Coaching Pedigree

Jonathan’s coaching résumé extends well beyond Pittsburgh. He has served as Men’s Assistant Coach at the University of Louisville, Assistant Coach for both men’s and women’s programs at Bellarmine University, Head Women’s Coach at Bellarmine, and Assistant Men’s Coach at Carnegie Mellon University. He also held Director of Coaching roles at Mockingbird Valley and Kentucky Fire Soccer Clubs in Louisville, Kentucky.

On stepping into the role, Jonathan said:

“I’m looking forward to the responsibility and the challenge of leading the Steel City Men’s First Team. The club has positioned itself as one of the most ambitious and innovative clubs in the area, and having the opportunity to work at the top of our pyramid to continue to move the project forward is exciting. Coach Brower deserves a lot of credit for the success he earned and the culture he created, and my job is to continue to build on that.”

Jonathan brings a wealth of experience to the USL League Two program and will look to build on the club’s philosophy, style of play, and winning tradition as he takes the reins of the Men’s First Team.

He’ll be in charge for the first time THIS Saturday, September 12, as we take on Croatia Cleveland in our 2027 US Open Cup qualifier.

Welcome, to the First Teams Coach Velotta!
