Youth Development Phase Boys & Girls Programs
Entering now into the full, 11-a-side game, the U13 & U14 years build on the technical excellence and deepen the tactical understanding of the game through a curriculum that encourages an assertive, dominant, and connected style of play.
All teams are encouraged to play an attractive brand of soccer, with a balance of organization and discipline, mixed with creativity and flair.
The overall aim of this phase is to help our players acquire the technical ability, tactical knowledge, and personal skills needed as they enter into the College Prep and/or Performance Phase.
2023-2024
Youth Development Phase (YDP) - U13 & U14 Blue, Yellow and White Teams
2011 & 2010 birth years
$2,500.00 per year
(Additional Fees for Regional Team Events)
The Youth Development Phase teams train and compete from mid-August - June.
In addition to the site teams, players can compete and earn regional competition.
All site teams play PAWest or GLA and compete in 2 tournaments (1 fall and 1 spring). Regional teams (made up from players from all Steel City sites) compete in E64, MDL, or GLC/GLA. (Additional fee if selected.)
Regional teams will compete in State Cup & Presidents Cup.
U13 & U14 REGIONAL TEAMS
In addition to the site teams, players can be identified into a pool for regional competition. These events are an additional cost.
- 7-8 play weekends (2 games per weekend)
- 2-3 Showcase/tournaments

Players in the Youth Development Phase will now build on the technical skills learned throughout the Foundation Phase, whilst the tactical concepts are layered and applied in the full-sided game.
Across the 2 years in this phase, players work through a curriculum with their site teams, while enter into larger pool (birth year) training sessions. The regional pools and training expose players to greater opportunities to compete and grow to their highest potential while working with players and coaches from all Steel City sites.
