After wrapping up her collegiate career in the fall, we’re pleased to welcome Pittsburgh-native Ashley Amato back to the pitch as a member of the Pittsburgh Hotspurs (WPSL) Women’s First Team. Amato competed for three seasons as a member of Steel City FC.

“I’ve coached Ashley since she was 10 years old. To see her grow and develop over the years, and getting to keep seeing her excel at high levels, is great for Pittsburgh women’s soccer,” said Coach Tom (Tommo) Ovenden. “She is a great personality and high energy individual. It’s great to have that on the squad.”

At The University of Akron (D1), Amato was a First-Team All-MAC selection along with All-Midwest Region Third Team in her senior year (fall 2019), Second-Team All-MAC her junior year, and was selected to the All-MAC Freshman team (fall 2016). She finished her collegiate career second in goals in program history.

“I think it is a really awesome opportunity to represent our city and bring women from all over Pittsburgh together to compete against other cities and do what we love!” shared the Plum HS graduate.

“I’m most looking forward to being able to play again in the summer since I just finished up my collegiate career and am already missing it!”

The Women’s First Team will play their first home game on Saturday, May 16th.

Tryouts are still being held on March 14th and April 11th.
