Spurs Signing: Owain Hawkins
We’re pleased to announce that Owain Hawkins will join the Men’s First Team competing in the NPSL for the 2021 season.
Born and raised in Cambridge, England, Hawkins played youth soccer at Histon Football Club for most of his childhood. He moved to the U.S. to play collegiate soccer at Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia as part of the Mountain East Conference in NCAA DII.
“I am really excited at the prospect of playing for the Hotspurs. It is evident that the club is taking all of their teams very seriously and I know I will enjoy being part of this,” Hawkins said. “The experience and backgrounds of the coaching staff are also an indicator I will no doubt improve as a player.”
Hawkins played as a defender over 60 times, scoring 4 goals and assisting 8. He received 2nd Team All-MEC Honors and was captain in later years.
“I have more than missed playing competitively and I am looking forward to the challenges of playing at this level,” he said.
“After roughly 2 years since playing proper competitive soccer, it is long overdue that I get to do so again, and I am pleased that it will be for such a well-known club in Pittsburgh!”
