Who We Are

Steel City FC is Pittsburgh’s competitive youth soccer club, built around a clear identity: Dominant. Assertive. Connected. We develop players who compete at a high level and leave our program ready for the next challenge — on and off the field.

Our Boys Performance Phase is one of the most demanding and rewarding environments in the club. Players in this phase — competing at the Academy, Premier, and Classic levels — are in a critical window of development, and the coaches we put in front of them need to match that standard.

We’re looking for a Lead Coach who brings tactical clarity, strong presence, and genuine commitment to player development. You’ll own a set of age groups and teams, work within the club’s Game Model and methodology, and lead a coaching unit that includes support staff. This is a role for someone who takes the craft seriously and wants to grow within a structured, identity-driven program.

What You’ll Do

  • Serve as Head Coach for your assigned age groups and teams within the Boys Performance Phase
  • Collaborate with the Academy Director to develop a season-long periodization plan
  • Design and lead training sessions that reflect the club’s methodology and Game Model
  • Assign training and game coverages to support coaches within your unit
  • Lead, mentor, and develop your support staff
  • Build and communicate game day rosters for all competitions
  • Manage player promotion and demotion decisions, including direct communication with players and families
  • Partner with the Director and support staff to develop and maintain ongoing Individual Development Plans (IDPs) for each player
  • Leverage video analysis and other resources to deepen player development

What You’ll Get

  • A structured environment with a clear Game Model and curriculum framework
  • Mentorship and coach development support from experienced staff
  • A defined pathway into higher-level coaching roles within the club
  • Access to club tools including Veo and session planning resources
  • The chance to shape one of the most important phases in a player’s development journey

What We’re Looking For

  • U.S. Soccer C License or higher preferred; D License considered with strong experience
  • SafeSport certified; background check required
  • Experience coaching competitive youth players at U15+ level
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • The presence and composure to lead a coaching unit and manage player/parent relationships
